What actually happens

  1. We put four questions to each engine, with live web access on. Real questions, like "who should I hire to install a paver patio in my county".
  2. Your company name never goes in the question. The point is whether you come up on your own.
  3. You get every number we saw: which engines named you, where you ranked, and the companies they recommended instead.
  4. If an engine errors before answering, we say so. It is not counted against you.
